The Role:

 

As the Property Surveyor, you will carry out a wide range of property inspections, diagnose defects, prepare specifications and oversee the delivery of repairs, planned works and remedial activity. You will support the Senior Property Surveyor with complex cases and provide technical advice to ensure high standards, regulatory compliance and effective contractor performance.

 

 

 Key Responsibilities:


  • Diagnose root causes of building issues and propose appropriate remedial solutions.
  • Inspect homes for repairs, defects, damp & mould, HHSRS hazards, voids and disrepair.
  • Prepare detailed specifications, schedules of work and drawings where required.
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, H&S legislation and internal standards.
  • Raise and manage work orders, valuations and variations using schedule‑of‑rates.
  • Monitor and assess contractor performance, ensuring quality and value for money.
  • Complete post‑work inspections and address any quality or customer issues.
  • Provide technical advice to residents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Support with escalated complaints, disrepair cases and evidence for legal matters.
  • Maintain accurate data and record‑keeping in property and asset systems.
  • Identify recurring issues and support improvements to asset performance.

 

 What We’re Looking For:

 

  • Strong diagnostic skills and understanding of building pathology and repair techniques.
  • Knowledge of housing maintenance, compliance, H&S legislation and damp/mould regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise work and keep accurate records.
  • Experience monitoring contractor performance and delivering property inspections.
  • Competence with IT, surveying tools and mobile technology.
  • Flexible approach to working across office and site environments.

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or related discipline.
  • HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent experience.
